Along with the new spam prevention software (hope it works, I am so sick of the fake mails and those mass whispers every five min) Blizzard implemented in its new 2.1 patch, it appears they are doing mass sweeps of account shutdowns of late. The reason why?
Scores of accounts are being shut down for what Blizzard calls “exploitation of the World of Warcraft economy”, stating that such an action is in direct conflict with the “essence” of the game. As a consequence of violating the game’s Terms of Use, Blizzard reserves the right to permanently disable a user’s account. If you’re caught they will effectively terminate your access to WoW and wipe out all of your characters. Because of this gold farmers are saying “Due to a big ban from blizzard, gold is nearly impossibly to get on a number of servers”. Auction sites are looking like ghost towns, and players are being forced to… dare I say it, earn gold on their own, OH NO!!! I hope the auction house prices reflect these changes soon.
The only problem with this crackdown is that some player’s accounts are being shut down because they have no life. If you spend every waking moment of your life power leveling your char, and rise in level to fast, there is a chance you can be accused of running an illegal Mod or Bot, and consequently have your account shut down. So make sure take breaks between leveling, step outside and enjoy the real world for a min.
Note: This doesn’t apply to all you slow levelers in the guild, taking 3 months to hit lv25, Jeeze!
