I just wanted to post my thoughts about where this guild is at its current time.  This is by no means a screw off post, or a tirade filled with pejoratives.  This should be read as an inspirational post for all members who would like to stay with EDS.

First off some facts.  As we continue on throughout WoW, we have probably solidified ourselves as one of the oldest guilds on the Bloodscalp server.  Often times, when I join pug groups, and they see my guild tag above me, they grow more confident, knowing that they are with a member of a solid guild that has pushed through all of the 10 man content in BC, and is now continuing to push through the 25 man content in lich king.  Our members carry a certain je ne se qous if you'll pardon the french, something that inspires a good run, or something that inspires other people on this server.  We have been featured in a magazine, have a strong tight knit group that knows each others phone numbers, shoot the shit, talk about current day policies, not get mad at eachother when someone's power goes out, or when someone has real life situations to attend to.  We have really established ourselves as a guild that people not only respect, but want with all their wow hearts to join.

This has lead to some interesting results.  We mass recruited before Lich King came out.  We wanted to do hyjal and black temple before the great snows of northrend cascaded upon our backs.  We wanted to see the death of Kael and Zuljin.  We wanted to prove ourselves as a true force on the bloodscalp server.  In doing so, we might have lost our original philosphy.  I say might, because it has not happened yet, but like a cancer, the seeds of doubt have been sewed and now spread.  Tonight, many serious issues were discussed.  Many topcis about guild drama, loot linking, loot whoring, anger with members not doing enough DPS or healing, fear of member loyalty and most important, a lack of fun and enjoyment.

I would like to say, here and now, for everyone who reads this, we will never lose ourselves to this game.  This is a guild that has members that will buy tickets for their other members for blizzcon.  That's 200 dollars if you don't know the ticket prices.  That's 200 dollars real cash.  This is a guild that will run alts through Shadowfang Keep just to get away from it all.  This is a guild that knows eachothers phone numbers not because we want to raid, but beacuse we actually trust eachother so much, that we want to expand on our friendship in game, to one that involves real life.  When WoW dies, which it inevetiably will, I wholly believe this core group of people will stay together and roll level 1 Blademasters and Arch-Druids together in WoW 2.  This is a guild that can play Call of Duty together, or Guitar Hero, or Pong online.  This is truly a "family" oriented guild.  One that can talk trash to other members not out of spite, but humor.  One that really gets along with one another and wants each other to suceed.  One that will one week, run around the Old World together and loot fire pits together, and follow people off cliffs, just to have a good time.

This brings me to my new points.  We have many new members.  We do not want the new members to feel like they are outcasts.  Like they are guildies in a world full of old friends who want nothing to do with them.  We all have open hearts and open minds.  If your chill and cool and enjoy a good joke, we will accept you.  We don't care about the little shit like pixelated gear, or DPS reports, or achievements which require you to keep 10 bosses alive while killing the ultimate dragon.  We don't care about that shit.  What we do care about is happiness.  Enjoyment.  Satisfaction.  None of these are mutally exclusive.  Instead this should be what every new member strives for.  A guild where you can sign on, talk about how you got a parking ticket, and not worry about people judging you diferently.  A guild where you can gripe about an instance where some other jackass from some other guild called you a noob because you couldn't kill Loken.  We want the responsese to be, "Oh well, fuck that guy, we still think your awesome."  We want the responses to be, "Oh well, who cares, I'll run heroic HoL with you and show you how to kill thsi fucker."  We don't want people to say, "Lol Learn to Play" although it might be funny sometimes, especially if it's fay we are talking about here.  We don't want people to say, "Dude, get rid of your greens, maybe you'll do better."  Or, "You're giving a bad name for our guild."

We want people to have fun.  Most importantly, we want people to have fun with us.  Fairly soon, Kor will be posting a topic about loot and loot linking.  Whoring and drama.  Shit we talked about online earlier tonight.  It will be extensive, and it will probably touch on lots of issues that might hurt your feelings.  Don't let it.  Instead, take a look at yourself and realize that maybe, just maybe, it's all for the best.  We are not pointing out people directly, but we are making a point:

1 - We want you to not fight with other guild members about anything involving loot, damage done, healing done, tanking done, chickens killed, amount of times you had sex with fay.

2 - We want you to feel comfortable and happy in an environment that encourages such behaviour.  You should be a singular entitity that does not have to ask if so and so is right, but instead, know deep down, that your actions actually inspire other members, other guildies, to be better people.

To illustrate on that last point, I would like to talk about a member in our guild named Gally.  I hate to bring him out into the spotlight, but he deserves a mention here.  Recently, he was uprgraded to the Deathstalker rank.  This rank is not something we take lightly.  We promoted him because he has been a solid and true member of the guild since the burning crusade.   He has always been one of the first persons to say (and btw this is in BC, NOT LICH KING RIGHT NOW) "GO ahead and take that gear, I might need it, but you could probably put better use."  Or, one of us might say, "Hey gally, your spots full, mind waiting around a while?" and instead of getting angry or frustrated he would say, "No problem, message me when you need me."

These are the things we want, these are the things we look forward to, and these are things that make us a better guild.  I would like to mention, here and now, that Korentul has passed on almost every single piece of loot he could use, because he loves you guys.  He's not trying to prove anything, he just wants you guys to be happy.

I want you to read this not as an interregation, not as a crucible, or a judgement, but as a post that illustrates what we truly believe makes people bond and grow to enjoy eachother.  We would like everyone to be happy, and we want everyone to have fun.  And to that, it will take all of us to make it so.  I hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed writing it (ok that was lame) but seriously, lets keep it strong, lets have fun, and lets not gripe.  Theres so much game to be played, and so much fun to had.  Let's have this fun together.

For EDS!

Deck,,, that was a great out line of tonight's officer talk.
I will fully support the guild like I have over the past year and will better myself also, in-order to restore the great title of ELITE, for that's who we are.
